We warmly welcome you to our website and invite you to learn more about the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Springfield, serving the four counties of Western Massachusetts: Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire. Catholic education has been a vital part of our diocese since 1867, made possible through the dedication and generosity of countless individuals and families. Our schools continue this proud tradition today, offering a rigorous academic program that nurtures students spiritually, intellectually, and physically.
The first weeks of school across the Diocese have been both successful and productive. It is heartening to see so many families grateful for the gift of Catholic education. Yet, even as we celebrate a new school year, our joy is tempered by deep sorrow following the heartbreaking tragedy in Minnesota. The violence at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, during a school Mass, claimed the lives of two children and injured many others. This tragedy has deeply affected our diocesan community. Our principals and teachers grieve in solidarity with the Annunciation community, while our own parents and students have understandably voiced concerns about safety in our schools and parishes.
The Catholic Schools Office, in partnership with diocesan and civic agencies, continually reviews safety plans and protocols in all schools and churches. We are committed to taking every precaution to ensure the safety and protection of our students and staff, while faithfully continuing our Catholic traditions.
We hold the Annunciation Catholic School community close in prayer, asking God to bring comfort, strength, and healing to the families and all who are suffering.
Thank you for visiting our page, and may God bless you.
Yours in Christ, Maria P. Wagner, M.A.
